Kyle Richards and Kathy Hilton

Kyle Richards and Kathy Hilton didn't unbox their issues this Christmas.

Despite smiling and posing for a photo with their mutual friend Faye Resnick at the annual Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party Thursday night, E! News has learned the two sisters are continuing to ice each other out amid months of turmoil. "The photo was staged. Notice they're not even standing next to each other. It was an attempt to make everything look better than it actually is, but things are not smoothed over," a source says of Kyle, 46, and Kathy, 56. "They only saw each other briefly at the party."

Faye happened to be caught in the middle literally, not figuratively. While she is friends with both siblings, the source explains that she is "much closer to Kyle."

Meanwhile, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards, 51, is on good terms with her sister Kathy as her ever-fragile relationship with Kyle appears to be at a standstill. "Kathy and Kim are fine," the source tells E! News. "Kathy had Kim and her children over for Christmas this weekend, but not Kyle or her family." Posing with her own children, Kim shared an Instagram photo of her "amazing, beautiful family" celebrating inside Kathy and Rick Hilton's home.

Kyle and Kathy's drama dates back to June, when Kyle was disinvited then re-invited to her niece Nicky Hilton's wedding to banking heir James Rothschild. While Kathy has not publicly explained her side of the story, Kyle has said on episodes of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills that Kathy was upset about a deal she made with TV Land to produce a sitcom inspired by her childhood. "As mother of the bride, Kathy had a major say on the guest list. Nicky initially invited Kyle, but then Kathy called and uninvited her. She literally told her not to show up. But Kyle insisted that if Farrah, her oldest daughter, was a bridesmaid and Portia, her youngest, was a flower girl then she should be there," the source tells E! News. "Kathy relented but still said Kyle's other two daughters and Mauricio [Umansky] were not welcome." After some debate on Kyle's part, she decided to attend the wedding with Farrah and Portia.

There were other issues at play, though.

Years ago, Mauricio left Hilton & Ryland, Rick's real estate company, to start The Agency. "Kathy and Rick have no contact or relationship with Mauricio," the source says. "Rick and Mauricio haven't spoken in about five years." So, what happened? As one insider previously told E! News, "Rick and his team wouldn't make Mauricio a partner, even after years of working there and a lot of success. So he left. Now, Mauricio is not welcome at any Hilton events. It puts Kyle in a terrible position because she always has to choose between her husband and her older sister." Another insider offered a different take, saying, "Mauricio went behind Rick's back when he started his business. Rick did everything for Mauricio to get him started, he gave him clients, he introduced him to people. And then when Mauricio set up his own company, he did it covertly and informed Rick via email."

Many have tried to bring the families back together, including Faye. In fact, she went so far as to ask both Mauricio and Rick to walk her down the aisle at her wedding in October. Says the source, "Talk about awkward!"

Get blown away by beauty services

What’s not to love about simple, affordable beauty services that pamper a customer enough, so that she feels deserving of the “hello gorgeous” sign emblazoned on the salon wall? Welcome to the recently opened Blo Blow Dry Bar La Mesa, a blow dry bar that offers clients customized hair styling blowouts based on seven “signature” hairstyles.

The cost for one of these basic blowouts is $40. Better still, the blow dry bar takes a customer’s hair from shampoo and conditioning to finished styling blowout in under an hour. The La Mesa “blo-cation” (as it styles itself) provides “no cuts, no color” for hair but rather “just wash, blow and go.” The salon also has manicures and makeup services among the menu options.

Shop co-owners Shelby and Marina Wilson are excited about their new business, East County’s first blowout and beauty bar. Shelby has been a licensed makeup artist for three years. Marina, her mother, has a background in hospitality businesses. Both are longtime East County residents. They described themselves as “best friends” and good business partners because they “get along business-wise.” Marina Wilson summed up their new endeavor, “This is a business risk, but we believe it will be rewarding.”

The shop, at 8806 Grossmont Blvd., offers clients a customized choice from among seven “signature” blowout styles on the hair menu. Makeup and nail services are also available at the beauty bar.

The daughter-mother pair premiered their blowout bar over the Grand Opening Weekend of Dec. 11-13, with reduced price specials for beauty services.

“This is a chance for a woman to take a break, get away from the kids and be pampered for an hour,” Marina Wilson said.

Blo La Mesa is the third area franchise of Blo Blow Dry Bar, joining locations in downtown San Diego and Carlsbad. Blo is North America’s first and largest blow dry concept enterprise, with over 65 franchises currently and plans for expansion in the U.S., Canada, Asia and Europe.

“We saw this as a good opportunity,” Marina Wilson disclosed. “I wanted to invest in a company franchise, and I was impressed by the Blo corporate profile. We started the process in July and it unrolled from there. We really jumped in with both feet.”

The Wilsons have hired 14 employees for Blo La Mesa.

“From my background, I believe that service is the key thing to business success, good customer service,” Marina Wilson continued. “People will come back for a smiling face at the door and a fun atmosphere.”

Blo La Mesa certainly measures up, by those standards. The shop features good background music, a sleek, clean, modern but feminine facility, complimentary champagne, wine or other beverages on request, and friendly, knowledgeable stylists.

And the blowout styling is as “awesome” as the Wilsons said the service would be.

I received a blowout on Monday, Dec. 14, after the shop’s opening weekend. The choices among the seven signature blowout styles on the hair menu range from the razor-straight Executive Sweet, to the Holly Would with big, bouncy curls, and the Pillow Talk featuring relaxed beachy waves. Updo and braid styles are other options.

I chose the Red Carpet style’s basic blowout, for smooth, gently romantic face-framing curls. My “style boss” was Kenzie Thompson, who applied the shop’s Unite hair products, including conditioner, volumizer and smoothing finish to tame my often-unruly locks. Thompson described the Unite products as impressive, saying they are sulfate free and manufactured locally in Vista. The results were lovelier and faster than I have ever achieved as a do-it-yourself blow dry self-stylist.

Thompson said that she is happy to now be working only five minutes from her La Mesa home. She is eager and enthusiastic about her new job role too, saying that she is enjoying the camaraderie of being part of the ground-floor startup, as the stylists come together as an effective work team. For potential styling clients, Thompson smiled and said, “Remember, you are not cheating on your usual hairdresser if you come here.”

Blo La Mesa, at 8806 Grossmont Blvd., is open seven days a week. Walk-in customers are welcome, although the Wilsons recommend making appointments for weekend services, as the salon chairs on the shop’s first Saturday were booked up. Two membership opportunities allow payment for multiple services, each at lower prices.

Ministry issues executive rules for beauty sector

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has issued executive rules for the women’s beauty sector, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

A source from the ministry said the ministry was encouraging beauty services to create employment opportunities for women.

“The executive rules will regulate the beauty sector in the Kingdom and encourage women to start their own businesses and employ other women as well. The ministry cares about the health and safety of both service providers or consumers,” said the source.

The source said the ministry also insisted that beauty centers should be run conforming to the values of Saudi society.

“The beauty services must be offered in a store licensed for the purpose. The business owner cannot offer beauty services outside the store. All employees offering the service must have a health certificate stamped by the local municipality declaring they are free from infectious diseases,” said the source.

He said all beauty and makeup products must match the standards and regulations of the Saudi Food and Drugs Authority. All beauty salons and stores must have sanitizers available for the employees and customers to use, he added.

The source also said customers should know the difference between a beauty salon and a clinic.

“Beauty salons are not permitted to offer any medical services, including plastic surgery or hair removals using laser technology. The employees at these salons are not health practitioners and may not have undergone any training to deal with the human body,” said the source.

The source said the ministry will cooperate with the Ministry of Interior and the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice to run frequent inspection campaigns on stores offering beauty services.

Inspired Bespoke Boho Bridal Line Dreamers

Like many fashion fairytales, the story of Dreamers & Lovers began with the journey of a woman on the hunt for The One. Founded by designer Yanique Barnes, the local bridal label was born from her BFF's wild goose chase of finding the perfect budget-friendly bohemian wedding gown.

"After searching for a wedding dress for my best friend, I found out how traditional and ultra expensive the wedding dress market was," says Barnes. "It did not feel right, and it was frustrating. Not long after, I had the itch to become an entrepreneur."

Three years after leaving her post as a manager at a Chanel boutique, the bridal designer crafts "heirloom quality fabrics all with a yesteryear feel" for brides yearning to think outside of the wallet-busting department store box. Think lacy, Victorian-inspired numbers fit for a modern-day indie bride; plus size bridesmaid dresses - sheindressau.com range from $615 for a '50s-inspired knee-length lace dress to $1,288 for a jaw-dropping floral embroidered gown with a semi-cathedral train to $1,980 for an Art Deco-inspired, pearl-bedecked dress.

We got to know bridesmaid-turned-designer Barnes and discovered what inspired her to create the line, her design muses, her best advice for brides-to-be, and more.

dreamers-lovers-bridal-01_2015_12.jpg

When did you create the brand?

Dreamers & Lovers was started in summer 2012. It started in my garage, where clients would come by to try on dresses, and get fitted. We have advanced past this phase, and now have our showroom/studio located in Torrance.

What's the Dreamers & Lovers experience like?

We make all of our dresses to the bride's exact measurements, and brides have the option to tweak the design, so if a dress has a cap sleeve, long sleeves could be added, etc. Once the dress is ready, brides have the option of picking it up in the studio, and if alterations are needed we assist with that also at no additional cost. We do not sell to bridal shops, as our clients love our concept of keeping the navy blue bridesmaid dresses affordable, while still being custom made.

dreamers-lovers-bridal-03_2015_12.jpg

What were you doing before founding Dreamers & Lovers?

I had been working as a manager for the Chanel boutique on Robertson Boulevard, and on the side was running a successful vintage business on eBay. I resigned from Chanel and kept on selling vintage clothing. It was amazing how many clients were purchasing lace caftans, and other ready-to-wear dresses from my vintage collection to use as their wedding dress. This was my a-ha moment. It was a sign, and Dreamers & Lovers was born.

Who are your design muses?

I am inspired by the women we create for. Our brides are different. They are creatives, independent, they believe in breaking from tradition, and they are comfortable in their own skin. They inspire and challenge me to create meaningful designs to celebrate their love, on one of the most special day of their lives.

From a designer perspective, the house of Chanel is always an inspiration for me. I love that the quality and fit is always at the forefront, and while their designs innovate, they tend to stick to the classics. Chanel jackets from 10 years ago still have a similar silhouette as the one being sold this season. This is how I approach the Dreamers & Lovers line—I like to design pieces that a woman will love 20 years from now. It would be awful to look back on your wedding photos, and wonder, "What was I thinking?"

What's your best advice for brides hunting for wedding dresses?

While it is great to get inspired by photos on Pinterest, it is best to be open-minded and try on a few different styles. What you initially liked may not be the best silhouette for you.

Celebrity Wedding

Is Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs' wedding off? Ever since their wedding was delayed, Pattinson and FKA Twigs have been facing breakup rumors. And now new reports claim that FKA Twigs is worried Pattinson is having cold feet. So are the split rumors true or false?

Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that Pattinson’s friends think FKA Twigs is a “gold digger,” and that Pattinson, 29, and FKA Twigs, 27, have been fighting over how big their wedding should be. Because of this, FKA Twigs is worried that Pattinson won’t want to get married anymore.

So are the reports true? It doesn't look like it. A source told Gossip Cop that the reports that Pattinson has cold feet and is ready to call off the engagement are completely false and utter “nonsense.”

That said, Pattinson and FKA Twigs did decide to delay their wedding. Back in August, a source confirmed to People that they changed the date to “autumn at the earliest” because FKA Twigs couldn’t figure out what kind of wedding she wanted.

“She talks about it keeping as real and low-key and then she wants an elaborate glamorous Baroque affair,” a source said. “She was even talking at one stage about having a masked ball.”

But rumors quickly started swirling that the delay was less about the wedding plans and more about the problems in Pattinson and FKA Twigs’ relationship. In September, a source told People that the wedding was “off the agenda” but “they haven’t called off the engagement.”

They felt a strain in their relationship because of their busy schedules and the fact that they were separated. “They’ve definitely drifted and have barely spoken while he’s in Belfast and she’s been in the States,” a source said. On top of that, sources said Pattinson didn’t really like FKA Twigs’ friends.

But other sources told E! News in September that Pattinson and FKA Twigs were “just fine” and that they “haven’t drifted apart” they simply “haven’t spoken as much lately because of his filming schedule.”

“There most likely won’t be a wedding this year, but that has been the expectation for months,” the source said. “There isn’t a rush to get married. Fall plans turned into winter plans and now there are no specific plans, but they still plan on getting married.”

In fact, they were seen on multiple dates back in November including at Grace Jones’ concert at SushiSamba London’s third anniversary party, and at the GO Campaign charity fundraiser where they hung out with Katy Perry.

Expert bridal advice

This country star is about to head down the aisle! Nashville star, Clare Bowen, announced her recent engagement to fellow musician, Brandon Robert Young, on Sunday with an adorably simple tweet confirming the news!

The talented Nashville leading lady confirmed the engagement to her longtime love after he popped the question during a Grand Ole Opry performance on Saturday night, E! News reports. The actress retweeted a local news outlet's own tweet announcing her engagement with a "Thank you!" followed by an abundance of heart filled emojies, confirming her weekend proposal. A follow-up tweet simply captioned, "Unforgettable," summed up the entirety of the couple's love-filled weekend.

Nashville Clare Bowen Engaged

The adorable duo is no stranger to social media after frequently posting snapshots of behind-the-scenes moments to their country music tours and performances.

Bowen recently made headlines after choosing to chop of her famous blond locks in honor of a 4-year-old girl battling the end-stages of nephroblastoma, People reports. Bowen took to Facebook to comment on the drastic change with a heart felt post reading, "Every scar tells a story, every bald head, every dark circle, every prosthetic limb, and ever reflection in a mirror that you might not recognize anymore." Adding: "Look deeper than skin, hair, nails, and lips. You are who you are in your bones. That is where you have the potential to shine the brightest from. It is where your true beautiful self live."

We can't help but wonder if the actress is getting engagement and wedding-planning tips from her Nashvilleco-star, Hayden Panettiere, who famously confirmed her engagement to her Ukrainian pro boxer boyfriend of two years, Wladimir Klitschko, during an appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Michael back in 2013, after donning a very large diamond ring!

Panettiere's engagement announcement was slightly different from her co-star's understated tweet. Need a refresher on the deets? Panettiere made quite an entrance wearing a giant boa constrictor around her neck before being questioned by Kelly Ripa about the engagement. "I'm sort of distracted, not just by the snake, but there's a very large diamond ring on your finger," said the hysterical host, "I'm not sure if you want to announce anything...does that signify anything, is that a promise of something?" Panettiere admitted that the giant sparkler "speaks for itself" after admitting "I am!" to Ripa's to-the-point question about her engagement.

So what's next for Bowen and her new fiancé? An engagement ring selfie, we hope!

How to tie gele: 10 steps guide and tips

Gele is gaining in popularity in Nigeria. Tying gele is not easy, but you can do it yourself following our 10 steps.

Gele tying is an art and a while ago Nigerian women have abandoned it all together. It is all because of and the complication of this process. So, our question is how to tie gele in an easy way? How many methods are there and how to pick the perfect gele? Let’s find some answers.

The history of wearing gele in Nigeria is a long one. Women from Yoruba tribe used to wear them for hundreds of years. They knew how to tie bridal gele or the one worn for special occasions. Here are ten steps you can follow to tie your gele in a simplest way.

Do your hair up

 tie gele

Even before you start mastering how to tie sego or bridal gele, you need to fix your hair. If you have long hair, gather it up and do it up in a knot or a pony tail. What you need for a perfect gele is a smooth foundation. Once you do the hair up, brush it well, especially around the forehead. Sort of smooth it up.

Put a cover on

You may skip this part, if you have short or straight hair. Yet, if you have lots of hair or smooth hair, you may use an additional cover up. The same works well, if you are using transparent fabric gele. Here is a quick how to tie Nigerian gele tip for you.

You may use a piece of your old pantyhose or leggings leg for this head cover. Just cut off the lower part of it and put it on your head. You may use hair slides to fasten it there. This way, you create a better foundation for your gele. It won’t slide off your head. If the gele is transparent, the head cover would create more even color underneath it. And, it keeps your curly hair down and tight on the head.

Make a fold

A traditional way to do it is to fold gele at one edge. It all depends on the girth of the scarf. If it is very wide, you can fold it almost by half. Or you can just bend one edge (10+ centimeters). You fold gele all the way to the other end of it. Make a nice crisp bend there and sort of press it together with your fingers. This way it would be easier for you to tie the headband.

The short and long of it

Now you need to take it so, that the bend would be looking downward and unbent edge would go up. One of the ends should be short and the other one – long. It has to be able to wrap twice around your head.

Adjust it to your head

Now, place the bent edge over your forehead. The shorter end should go all the way down to your nape (plus 10+15 cm). Press it closely against your head and put both ends down to your nape. Make sure gele covers your forehead and both ends cover up your ears.

Cross the ends

At this point your gele has to stay tight on your head. Use the longer end to fasten the shorter one, so you would free up the other hand. You sort of place the short end under the long end and make its tail sticking out on the other side. Then you pull the longer end and fasten the shorter one. This way you can have one hand free to help you do the folds.

Wrap it once

The first wrap goes all around your head. Watch the folds. This is when they need to be formed and shaped. Make sure that crisp bend is pressed nicely to your head. Make a small indent from the first layer of gele to shape more folds. Go all the way down to your nape.

Wrap it twice

Go for the second wrap, making more folds. These folds are the essential part of gele’s beauty. This time you may make small pleats with your hands on the edge of the crease. You fold it up in small movements and press it down to your head. Go all the way down to the nape again and wrap it up.

Tie it

Finally, you tie the two ends (they are of the same size by this time). You make a truelove knot, so it would not get untied and fall off you. The knot should be located on your nape or little bit on the side near one of your ears.

Adjust gele

It’s time to adjust the gele at the topper part. You have that unfolded end sticking up. You need to round it up a bit and make few nice folds over your head. That’s it.

This is just the basic and simplest way of how to tie your gele. You can do it yourself with no help from someone else. It just takes a little practice. However, there are other more tricky ones. For instance, you may leave two long ends of the shawl and make one bend around the head with each of them. Or, you may create a zig zag pattern on your head.

In this case you would need two or even three scarfs of different colors. It looks really nice, if you make even and smooth zig zag. Another way to tie your gele is to make pleats. In this case you do not make the fold.

Instead you make pleats with your hands on one edge of gele and put the short end at your temple. You start rolling gele around your head and keep on making the pleats on its edge. You go round and round until you run out of the scarf. Then you tie a knot with two ends and adjust the other edge. This way you get many nice folds on your head. That’s a nice way how to tie your sego gele.

How do you pick your gele and what big names and brands are there?

The quality of fabric

Mainly Nigerian women pick geles made out of metallic fabric. They are airy and stylish. Plus, they can come in a diversity of colors. Nigerians do love color. However, most of such fabrics are synthetic. There are many organic options available, too.

When picking textiles for gele, you should prefer the light ones. They look nicer on the head and do not create that heavy and clumsy look. One of the best choices is pure cotton fabric. It does not make you feel hot and sweaty, while wearing your gele. It absorbs the moisture well and actually protects you from heat. Plus, it is not as smooth, as silk or synthetic fabrics. So there are fewer odds of having your gele slipping off, when you do not want it to.

One of the top names in gele is Segun. The businessman behind this name is Hakeem Oluwasegun Olaleye. He resides in Huston and he is a Nigerian. At some of time he noticed that Nigerian women stopped wearing geles. They felt those were too hard to tie, so they switched to western outfits and headwear.

He felt like it was a pity and started to offer his assistance for tying geles. He also taught others how to tie gele. At first his fees were small (around 10 dollars per gele). However, the man mastered to make a name for himself. Presently he can charge up to $1000 to tie a single bridal gele.

This gele professional gets booked for wedding year in advance.

He does amazing job, too. He decorates headbands with a range of things, including even feathers.

How can you decorate your gele?

If you have a unicoloured gele, you can decorate it with embroidery. It can be done with threads of ribbons. Such hand stitched geles look very sophisticated. Or the upper edge of the scarf can be trimmed with lace. Another way to decorate your gele is to pin some flowers on it.

This works awesome for a bridal gele. Once you tie the headband, you can pick some handmade flowers and just pin them on the scarf. This creates very unique and festive look. You can were such décor to a number of festive occasions.

Gele color and decorations to wear with it?

Mostly gele and its color should fall in line with the entire outfit. It can be contrasting in color with the dress. However, it can match in color your accessories, such as jewelry, purse, shoes, or dress decorations and embroidery. Gele color can also match the print color of the dress.

Plus, it can be accompanied by bright and creative makeup. You can match the headtie color with your earrings and beads or bracelets. Or you can wear another scarf on your shoulder and waist made of the same fabric as your gele.

Now you know how to tie gele. You do not need to pay anyone to do it or wait for anyone to come and give you a hand. Any time you want you can create a fashionable and unique look with the headtie and maybe even devise your own way of folding or tying it.
