7 Things Every Bride Needs to do

Planning your wedding is one of the most joyful times of your life. After all, for many, it’s something you’ve anticipated your entire life, which makes the year-round celebration really quite special. Along with all of the tear-jerking bridal moments, most brides also endure a great amount of stress during that one year—occasionally turning into bridezilla for brief moments. If you really look at the behind the scenes work at a wedding, you would have a meltdown or two as well!

Hopefully, with these tips, you can lessen some of that stress and go back to enjoying some of the happiest moments in your life!

1. Timeline

This is the holy-grail. Schedule out EVERYTHING and stick to the deadlines you create for yourself. Figure out when you want things like venues, caterers, DJ, cake, etc. decided upon, and paid for, and then follow that. Make sure to give yourself ample time for testing/tastings. Booking vendors can also be tricky because obviously, you need time to make sure they’re the right fit for you. However, you also need to allow enough time to reserve them—the venue of your choice may not be free when you want your event. Just like you, there are about 1000 other brides working with their own timeline for the same month and vendors book up quickly. You need to get to the ones you want as early as possible for your big day!

This timeline should also factor in the smaller details; so not only when your bridesmaids and groomsmen buy their apparel by also when their final fitting should be completed by. Make sure everyone is on the same page, if need be, give the procrastinators earlier deadlines than your timeline to ensure that everything is completed by the time you need it to be.

2. Budget

The dreaded B-word of a wedding. This may seem like the glass ceiling of your big day but it really is just the key. Sticking to your budget is essential and will be a necessity for your future happiness! Figure out how much you are comfortable spending and then meet with vendors and venues accordingly. Calculating the budget out early will allow you to see how much wiggle room you have for certain things you may want to splurge on or how you can cut costs with some DIYs. Maybe after crunching the numbers, you can find some extra funding for that live band you wanted instead of a DJ.

Moreover, if you are able to save somewhere and keep under your allotted budget, you may be able to splurge somewhere down the line that you may have not expected; nicer bridal shoes or an additional spa package your honeymoon!

3. Hair and Makeup

Schedule your makeup, hair and fitting appointments early on. Just because you planned to stop in for your make-up trial at your convenience, doesn’t mean the hair salons and stylists will be able to accommodate your schedule as well as your friends and family have. Realize early on that these things are going to be essential for your big day so they need to be given the proper attention.

You may think you want an up-do with that hot red lipstick, but after a trial, you may realize that’s not quite the look you were going for. Things look different in reality versus, in theory, so make sure you are satisfied with the way you look on the wedding day because you’re going to have the pictures for a lifetime.

4. Fittings

Be sure to schedule a fitting one month before your wedding. This is especially important If you get your dress 10 months in advance, your body may change after that juicing cleanse you’re going through. It’s really important to fit it closer to the wedding to see if it needs to be taken in or out right before the big day. Juice cleanses definitely work if you’re on them for 6 months, so your weight may change from the initial trial. Also if there is anything wrong with the wedding dress this will give you enough time to make sure that someone will be able to rectify any issue in four weeks. After all, it’s your day and you should look fabulous!

5. House

Whether you’re already living together and moving into a new place or moving in together for the first time, make sure to plan for this before the wedding! Aside from budgeting for the wedding, start planning ahead for the new apartment you’re getting. The earlier you decipher what things you already have and what you need, the better. This will also allow you to register for the things you need for your bridal shower and for the wedding! By doing this you can avoid getting 8 blenders and actually get the crock pot and coffee maker of your dreams!

6. Honeymoon

As exciting, fun and relaxing as this part of the wedding is some couples don’t glance over this until the very end. Try to do this as early as possible. Research different places you want to go and things you want to do; whether that includes relaxing on the beach and snorkeling or hiking up Kilimanjaro.

Make your honeymoon about what both of you want to do. Go through your options together early on, this will save you a lot of money on plane tickets and you can play around with the better deals on flights/hotels. This will also give you wiggle room with the hotel if it’s far advanced enough to see if they may give you a complimentary upgrade on your room since you are celebrating a significant life event with them! The earlier you plan it the more time you have to also book reservations in your destination, this will guarantee you a better chance of doing everything you want on the trip. If there’s a restaurant you’ve heard amazing reviews of you’ll be able to score an awesome table if you do it early enough!

7. Wedding Emergency Kit

This is just something you’re going to want to have, in order to ensure that everything goes smoothly and stress-free. Create this week in advance so it’s just something you can instruct your bridesmaid to grab on the day of. Make sure to have spray deodorant, this will help the entire bridal party, as well as yourself, and you won’t have to worry about how intimate sharing the normal stick deodorant may be. Bring hairspray, safety pins, bobby pins, small scissors, small hairbrush, tide-to-go pen, bandaids, clear nail polish, the polish of your manicured nails, lotion, mints, a small sewing kit, and a shot of whiskey! Just basic essentials that can immediately remedy any colossal issue.

Most importantly every bride should have fun creating some of the most treasured memories of her life on her big day!

Bridal shop buys and renovates building

A bridal shop is moving from the West Side to a larger space in town.

Renee Austin Wedding is in the process of moving to the Beckett Building in Grand Rapids' Creston neighborhood, at 1555 Plainfield Ave. NE, which it purchased for $155,000 and spent about $250,000 on for renovations.

The retailer had operated for the past seven years at 442 Bridge St. NW, while it looked for a building to purchase, owner Maggie Feil said.

“We found the charm and growth in the Creston area appealing, and we’re excited to have the opportunity to create a space that’s exactly how we want it,” Feil said.

The 3,400-square-foot store will feature bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and accessories. The store will have four fitting rooms and four bridesmaid rooms.

The space also includes a 1,525-square-foot apartment on the second floor, which is being updated for a potential long-term rental.

Firms on the project

NAI Wisinski of West Michigan broker Scott Nurski found the space for the retailer, while GR8 Contracting is performing the space’s build out.

Grand Rapids-based Lake Michigan Credit Union financed the deal for Renee Austin Wedding, and Grand Rapids-based Sun Title handled the title work.

Feil started Renee Austin Wedding in 2009.

The retailer has eight employees.

Renee Austin Occasions, also owned by Fiel, will remain in operation at 701 Fulton St. W, selling prom, mother-of-the bride and other dresses.

Louise Roe's Wedding Dress

A gorgeous wedding dress is practically a given when a fashion guru ties the knot — and Louise Roe was certainly no exception! When the E! television host got married earlier this month in Windsor, England, she stopped us dead in our tracks with her to-die-for wedding dress — a lace, off-the-shoulder Pronovias gown that perfectly fit the feel of her romantic and classic British "I do's." Yes, Roe looked totally effortless in her fabulous wedding dress, however actually creating the couture dress was anything but. In fact, it was apparently the the most complicated dress Pronovias designer Hervé Moreau ever made!

With Bridal Fashion Week in full swing, Roe headed to Pronovias' Spring 2017 runway show over the weekend, where she shared with People magazine her own experience with the luxe line. "I was so specific," Roe said of her very first meeting with Moreau concerning her custom wedding dress. "Then Hervé looked at me and went, 'No.' I was like, 'But I am in fashion! I know what suits my body!'" But Roe was right to trust the expert when it came to her bridal style. "He said, 'No, try this,' and it was perfect," said Roe. "He knew me better than I did."

Although Roe shared that watching the couture designer sketch out her dream dress was "the most special experience of her whole life," even she wasn't immune to that quintessential wedding nightmare of not falling head-over-heels in love with her dress when she slipped it on for her first fitting. "I'm gonna be really honest, I got worried [when I tried it on at first]," the Front Roe author admitted. "And then someone said to me, 'No, no. That's normal bride behavior. Wait until they've done the final nips and tucks.' It's the tweaks that make [a] huge amount of difference." We couldn't agree more!

It ended up taking four trips to Spain — where the Pronovias studio is based — to perfect the dress and get Roe wedding day ready. And obviously Roe's classic lace wedding dress was SO worth the extra effort. "He said it was the most complicated dress he's ever made," Roe said of Moreau. "I was like, 'Well done, me!'" Bravo!

PIPPA MIDDLETON

Pippa Middleton has caused quite a stir since she became engaged to her long-time boyfriend, James Matthews. The sister to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has got the rumor mill churning, and the tales revolve around the beauty’s upcoming nuptials. This is mainly the case due to the issue as to what role Kate Middleton may play on the big day. Will she return the favor and act as maid of honor to her sister the way Pippa did for her back in 2011? Experts say this is unlikely.

Reasons for this include the fact that Kate may inadvertently steal the attention away from the bride on her big day if she is visible during the ceremony. Author and expert about the royals, Judy Wade, weighed in on the issue, as Peopleshares,

“Kate would upstage her sister. It’s a tricky situation for Pippa. She would want her sister by her side, as who else would she trust to make things go well? But if your sister is a future Queen, she is going to upstage the bride and draw attention. Kate would want to be in the background as much as possible.”However, now it seems as though the Queen is putting her foot down in regards to Kate’s role in the wedding and has reportedly banned the Duchess from even attending her sister’s wedding due to other reasons. Queen Elizabeth is said to not be a fan of the antics often put on by James Matthews reality star brother, Spencer Matthews and is concerned about his communication with the tabloids. Spencer is often very free when talking to the media and there is a worry that he will bring drama and trouble, as well as a bad reputation to the royals. The monarch is reportedly, therefore, putting pressure on Middleton to bow out of her duties on Pippa’s big day as a sign of loyalty to her royal position.

..the reason behind the Queen’s ban is Spencer Matthews, the brother of Pippa’s fiancé James Matthews. Spencer is a reality and model had earlier posed in public wearing nothing but nude underwear to promote a new website for the London Fashion Week. His actions have raised some eyebrows from the royal family who avoids embarrassment as much as possible. It is also reported that Kate Middleton was heartbroken when she learned that she cannot attend her sister’s wedding, since her sister expects her to be there when she gets married.”However, if this all seems a little far-fetched, that is probably because it is, according to the celebrity gossip policing site, Gossip Cop, who have successfully debunked the rumor regarding Kate being banned from Pippa’s nuptials. The site reports that there is absolutely no ban that has been set by Queen Elizabeth II and that all will go forward between the sisters. There is still no word as to Kate’s role, yet her little ones, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, may reportedly act as ring bearer and flower girl during the much-anticipated ceremony.

Pippa and James announced their engagement on July 17 and have since not relayed any details about their plans. This is not a surprise seeing as the two generally keep to themselves. However, Pippa did recently give an interview to theDaily Mail ahead of the launch of her second book, Heartfelt. During the interview, Pippa shared that she has become used to the media circus but that James is still adjusting. The beauty also shared about her frustrations in regards to being considered a “sociallite” and “party girl” who is said to not work for herself. Pippa Middleton insists those terms couldn’t be further from the truth. but that she has grown a thick skin about it all.
